Laser scar removal is a procedure that is performed using an ablative fractional laser – Monalisa Touch™ and Er: Yag iPixel 2940 laser. Depending on the type and size of the scar, one of these lasers is used. They are also used to remove wrinkles and stretch marks. Laser scar removal involves the precise directing of a light beam that penetrates deep into the skin, into the subcutaneous tissue and dermis, causing micro-damage. There is a photothermal reaction and the water in the tissue is heated and evaporated. The consequence of this phenomenon is the start of natural skin reconstruction processes and stimulation of collagen production, i.e. the substance responsible for the good skin condition. Fractional laser by destroying the changed tissue at the same time stimulates it to auto-renew. To achieve satisfactory results, usually, a series of such treatments should be used.
A few days after the procedure, the skin around the scar is removed and this spot may be slightly swollen and red. There may even be a mild rash that will go away or begin to peel over the next few days.
After laser skin treatments, do not take hot baths for several days. It is forbidden to use the saunas and not to be in the sun. Before each leaving the house, use creams with high UV filters. You should also give up performing any peels at this time.
Therefore, laser scar removal should be performed in autumn and winter, when the sun is not such a great threat to the skin.
The skin needs four to six weeks to recover from surgery. It all depends on how deep the changes were liquidated. You also have to remember that to get good results, you have to undergo a series of treatments.
Contraindications – these treatments are not intended for pregnant and lactating women.
An important contraindication to deciding on a laser for acne scars is taking antibiotics, steroids and any anticoagulant drugs. Laser scar removal must not be performed on people with cancer or serious skin conditions such as psoriasis or atopic dermatitis.
Side effects – after contact with the fractional laser, the skin may be red, swelling and rash may appear. Sometimes there is a permanent disorder of skin pigmentation, burns, or atrophic or hypertrophic scars.
Laser removal of post-operative acne scars, including after cesarean section, in our Center is performed using a fractional laser or surgical method.
Pulses of the laser head coagulate damaged scar tissue and stimulate the creation of new, healthy tissue. The emitted laser beam reaches deep layers of the skin and eliminates even extensive scars. Therefore, acne scar removal is effective.
A significant value of the fractional laser in the treatment of postoperative and acne scars is the combination of maximum effectiveness with a short healing period, low risk of infection and painlessness. Laser scar removal technology is used on all skin types. It is also suitable for adhesions regardless of age and size.
This laser is also used to remove burn scars.
